This small Ulmus laevis (european white elm or fluttering elm) came from seed harvest about 7 or 8 years ago. Several years ago I planted it on a rock and left it to grow in the garden, controlling the growth once a year or every 2 years. Today I dug it out and put it in a plastic container. Because fluttering elm grows more like a multitrunk big shrub rather than a typical tree shape, I pruned it down hard and aim for a freestyle broom, or shrub look. Many years to go.
